Default gasoline in air box

hey guys...

Our 2000 DS wouldn't start all of sudden and I determined it was because of what I thought was water in the air box. I thought it could have been water cuz my kids were driving around in the rain the day before, even though I couldn't htink as to how it would have gotten in there.

Anyway, I took the air filter out and let it dry. Went to put it back in today and noticed the "water" in the bottom of the air box hadnt dried yet. I took a shop rag to it and only then did I realize it wasn't water, but gasoline.

Can anyone possibly explain how this can happen, and what I need to do fix? The cart had been running fine for months.

Thanks!
-A

The float in the carb probably got stuck, or got some junk in the needle and it filled up with gas and ran out into the air box.
When it does that it will usually also fill the engine. Check your oil and change it if the oil level is high and/or smells strongly of gas.

Remove the carb and clean out the fuel bowl, and make sure the float moves freely and the needle is clean. New filters and new fuel hoses from tank to carb are something I always replace if this happens.

Thanks dude. Changed the oil and cleaned the carb this weekend, so we'll see what happens!
