Default Where Did You Mount Your Winch?

Looking at adding a winch to my 2004 DS cart. Need some ideas of mounting with or without brush guards. Not a whole lotta strength in front of these carts is the problem.

thanks

I think you might be into some fabrication work to get a winch on there. I just used a 2" reciever welded into my cart frame, but the frame is steel. In your case the frame is aluminum. Can you post a pic of the front frame area?

Yeah you might be able to mount a heavy steel frame, 3/16 plate, to the suspension subframe. Then use a 2" reciever tube welded to that, use some gussets to reinforce. Then just use a generic winch mount that uses a 2" reciever tube. Hard to tell just by a photo, but it looks doable.

If that's too high up, then you could use the main frame and make two side plates that bolt through the frame on both sides, then weld the 2" reciever between the two in the front. That would likely be stronger, maybe even better for clearance of the body.

Or you could just fabricate a whole new bumper out of 2x6 box steel and make a 2" reciever into that that bolts on.

What does the bumper bolt to? That flat aluminum section in front?

Yeah it's probably effective in a 5 mph impact lol. I remember back in the day we used to play bumper cars at the local golf course We were terrible. I don't think we ever damaged anything (that we know of). But I could see the bumper bracket just bending if you were to pull with a winch.

I'm thinking making frame brackets would be the best and strongest option. Doesn't look too complicated.
