2013 Precedent power on hills
Cart has the FE350 engine It is a limo with about 450lbs of passengers going flat top speed by GPS is 11mph that is fine but any kind of incline or hill and it drops to about 3-4mph engine sounds ok just no power. I have been told by a few people 2 things not sure of the knowledge and I am concerned don’t want to do any damage
1) adjust governor. Not liking that option concerned of over revving 2) change clutch spring to red heavy duty the one in it now is Green Anybody with real experience have any ideas Thank you |

Re: 2013 Precedent power on hills
You probably need to replace both clutches, and get a new heavy duty drive belt.
Adjustment to the governor or throttle cable may help as well, since that cart should probably be running about 17-19 mph flat out. Does the cart have a stretch kit? One of the ones that makes the cart about 3 feet longer in the middle section? If so then throttle cable adjustment should probably be done first since that may have been loosened up by the installer or previous owner. This can be done in under the floor in the pedal box in just a few minutes. The condition of the drive belt and drive clutch also make a big difference in power on hills. I would try adjusting the throttle cable first. Then try changing the drive belt for a heavy duty drive belt from Club Car. If that doesn’t fix the issue then I would rebuild the primary clutch, and get a power spring for the secondary clutch. If either clutch has wavy or grooved sheaves then that clutch should be replaced. |
