Thanks LOCKMAN1,
I will never forget that piece of information!
Do you all like the pedal start instead of the key start?
And if so, how hard is it to switch out?

I don't know how much difference it ultimately makes, but, the "key start" carts seem a use engines with an Automatic Compression Release ("with ACR") mechanism.
That's what helped me to decide to be satisfied with my pedal start operation.

I have a converted to key start carryall one with AMD Nidec Starter Generator - For Club Car With Key Start. With this generator, I am charging at idle which is a big plus. I also don't use any micro switches which seemed always to be an issue prior to my conversion, wiring is very simplistic with just the bare minimum of wires, problems are easy to chase down. The only issue I have, is I have to turn it off to switch from forward to reverse

You should have a 4 terminal switch on a 92 gas cart. You can make a 2 terminal switch work but it’s not the correct switch and you will not have the ground contact to kill the ignition circuit when you turn the switch off.

Look in the wire diagram post on the stickies section at the top of the forum.

Get an idle spring for the drive clutch from CartPartsPlus. That will keep your drive clutch from dragging the belt at idle and allow you to shift without turning the engine off as long as you have the idle speed adjusted properly.

I know this is an older thread BUT would a 4 post ignition switch work on an electric cart? If so, how? Posts labeled 1,2,M-, and M+.
