Not yet... but like i said you can tell by the very light surface rust it still is not going to the top when you drive it.

I think i am going to drive it some more while we have some light.

I think this is my problem. Shouldn't the helix be rotated where the shoes touch the other shieve?

What caused this and how to fix?

Holy Cow! Your driven is worn out, no ramp shoes and overshifted to the "dark side". That is a problem.....

Yep you pre rapped the wrong way and that may have caused your other problems

There is some ramp shoe left see arrow
It appears to be very close to the transmision case, second arrow.
It should have prewrap tension to keep the ramp on the helix.

Pull the driven, disassemble it. There is a clip that every one says should be replaced with a spacer. When reassembling load the spring by twisting the movable sheave so the buttons(wear pads) are in contact with the helix.

I have never worked on one but they are very much like sled clutches.
