Exclamation HID headlights... Thoughts/Questions..

A local vendor carries HID kits, given the cart has sand size bulb fittings do you guys think this would be a good mod? I plan to use my headlights even during the day for visibility so current draw would be a concern. Standard bulbs use 55watts and HID's generally pull 35watts. Do you think this would help a bit on the battery daily use? Has anyone done this on a Cart? tks

If you are going to go through that just get some kind of L.E.D. flashing light.

HID's are a PITA and although they only draw 35w, they are famous for not working properly with the voltage fluctuations you will get when you throttle up etc.

If you are using lights for daytime visibility, I would consider LED's. They draw almost nothing and can be had in just about any intensity you need, up to and including driving and flood lights.

I just order set from my dist. only cost me $30 so see what happens. im going to be installing 35w hid kit in my ezgo. The 55w generates a lot of heat in small housing.

You may regret your decision, the 35w HID's generate even more than what you are taking out. They are known for melting plastic housings around the base and also the lens. When you get a voltage sag, they start to flicker and won't come back on until you turn them off then back on after they cool down.

It will be fine. My Escalade fog light housing and R1 housing (both plastic) are both pretty small if not smaller then my carts. No problems at all with heat. I sell a lot of these kits to my customers, none have come back about melting there housings.
A halogen bulb burns a filament, a lot hotter then a HID gas charge
HID uses less power and generates less heat
