Re: key switch help>connect the dot
What all you hooking up? Get a bosch style relay for the headlights run off the battery or positive starter on engine. Most small engine ground the ignition to kill it, you need another relay like that running backwards that grounds it when off, run that off your key power that used to go to the pedal/CDI. Or you can cheat and turn the idle to nothing but if the throttle ever sticks you can't turn it off. Unless you are using the key on the motor not the cart pedal/key, then just extend the wiring, or buy a key switch for a lawn mower. You can still use the cart key with relay for on/off but will need an additional starter button if you don't use pedal and cart generator. You mean fuel solenoid on the carb? I dunno, get a diagram for your engine or similar most are the same. I don't know anyone that runs one of those and everyone runs vacuum fuel pumps.

Re: key switch help>connect the dot
What type of key are you using?
You have power (to big 12v starter solenoid terminal) and ground (to block) to engine from battery, will be larger cables to run the stater. Start is momentary 12v to small solenoid terminal to activate it with key/etc. That is to run the starter. Wire from charge coils inside flywheel to 12v to charge battery. May have rectifier/etc in-line to 12v, you can hook it to the big 12v battery cable. That is charging system. Wire from ignition coils to kill it when off. That is the kill switch, lawn ignitions on outside of flywheel are magnetos and self powered. Only CDI and automotive coil/points/distributor ignitions are powered via 12v. You can use a key switch to hit the starter and ground the ignition to turn it off like a lawnmower. You can use an on/off switch and a button for the starter. You could even use the cart key for on off with a relay that grounded when at rest (typical bosch will) and a button for starter. A G9 the ignitor is powered up via the key and pedal just bypass the pedal. In fact your could rewire the key to ground but it would work backwards and turn off for on, etc. |

Re: key switch help>connect the dot
If the panel you mount the switch on is insulated from ground you run a wire from pin 1 to ground. In other words the keyswitch body is grounded internally. (At least in the switches shown) I myself dont ground to frame but thats mainly because I work on electrics. You need to make sure your switch is the same
