I took a block of wood (small piece of 2/4) and rested it against the steering column then beat on the steering wheel from underneath all the way around the column. It was a pain. I then decided to put a little heat on it from the top (and I do mean a little as steering wheel is obviously plastic) and it came right off.

removed the steering nut and re-installed with fingers leaving about 3 threads exposed. Propped my feet on the dash-knees on back side of steering wheel applying pressure to wheel. Took a rubber dead blow hammer to steering nut and whacked it about 3 times. Presto one steering wheel in my hands...

you got lucky and you aslo have a newer cart. The older ones seem like they are welded on

I used the technique rowdy used only I first, put PB Blaster all around the nut, shaft and threads. Do leave the nut on though or you can get hurt or damage something with the steering wheel. When it comes off, it comes OFF!

Good replies I also recomend PB Blast/or another good penetrating oil. One more little trick, the shaft has a "dimple/centering hole", take a center punch and give it a couple of good "taps" with a hammer, it helps loosen things up.

We use an air hammer with the centerpoint bit.

Put your feet on the dash and brace your knees against the wheel. I quick blast and it should pop right off.
