Unknown controller #2
On a visit to the scrap yard, I picked up a speed controller from a busted-up golf cart, I think it might have been an Ez-Go.
The device is 4 1/2" X 5" X 2" high, has 4 heavy terminals, M-, B-, B+, and A2, along with a 6-prong connector that has 4 small wires on it. A 36-volt solenoid-style relay is mounted on top, and the entire box is mounted on a sturdy-looking heat sink. One of the wires from the solenoid goes to the speed control box B+ terminal and is badly burnt. As the terminal doesn't seem to be loose, it probably came from either an overload/short or the solenoid is bad internally, causing a high resistance and lotsa heat. Do these speed controls go bad? What value might the speed pedal pot be? Would this be useful on my old resistor-style carts? Is there any way to check these things short of installing them in a working cart? TIA: <<Jim>> |
