Default drive clutch on 85 marathon

i started to back the cart in to the garage and the motor was running and then it started to rev up and not go . i opend the seat and pushed on the peddleand watched the motor run and when i ket go the drive plutch kept going . so i removed the engine and pulled the drive clutch cover and found little plastic buttons . now after futher inspection i dont see how this can be with the was its constructed . am i crazy did i not see the drive clutch spinning . wht gives . has anyone experinced any of wht im discribing . also is their a place that has the plastic buttons

As far as I've read, the drive clutch(on the engine)is not serviceable.I mean you can get that cover off and blow air in it and whatnot to clean it out, but if you've got stuff falling apart, you're pretty much going to get a new one.Can you put up some vid of what it's doing?I don't think I can help but I'd like to see it.

With the cover off and spring removed move the clutch open and closed by hand. You'll see the arms with the rollers attached moving up and down ads the slides that holds them in place. If I remember right where these buttons go is on both sides of the slides. I think you can remove the arms and replace the buttons. A small bolt and nut holds them in place.As for as the clutch continuing to turn after the engine stops that sound like the clutch was loose and spinning on the crank.
