Default 86 ezgo 2 cycle starting problem

My 86 ezgo 2 cycle golf cart starts, stops and runs fine for the first 4,5 or 6 golf holes. After that when I stop, it will not start. ( turns over, but will not start ). When I let it sit for 15 or 20 minutes or so,it starts just fine.

Solutions I have tried!
1) New fuel filter
2) New fuel pump
3) New carburetor
4) New spark plug
Anyone have any ideas on what I might try next.

THX: Fuzzycarp!!!

Welcome to BGW Fuzzy Sounds like you have an ignitor failing or coil. Heat related you may try a coil first but if that don't solve the problem your most likely looking at an ignitor replace. Just my thought K

I think " racin161 " is right on with his diagnosis! Take a good spark plug with you and when your cart acts up, take the spark plug lead and connect it to the loose plug, set the plug on a metal part of your engine and try starting it. See if you have a spark. If not it is as was said, with the coil or ignitor. If that is your problem, I'm sure others here will be able to give you test procedures for these units so you can find out which one is bad.

Thanks for the TIP!!

I tried as you suggested w/a plug attached to spark plug wire and resting on the engine. Could not detect a spark! Ordered a new ignition coil, should arrive in a few days. Will keep you informed.

Thanks again: Fuzzy
