Default more power?

I have a 2005 TXT cart.I use it to tow a race car around. The cart is stock except for HD rear springs and a back seat. The cart seems to be slower now then when new.It puffs a little smoke when it first starts to move.I would like a little more top end without haveing to put a big block kit in it.I have turned up the govener some. What are my options? Thanks

My drive belt is 1" 1/8 wide. What are they new? I was thinking maybe a new drive belt and a small lift to put taller tires to help top end.Make sense?

Thumbs up Re: more power?

There r many things to do with high n low costs. I wud guess u hav a combination of problems by ur post. Ur cart came stock with a 9hp n an option of 13hp. The drive belt is correct at 1 1/8. Because ur pulling a race car I wud go to the clutches 1st. Mark them with white out from top to bottom then giv cart full power n make sure ur clutches r working properly by the white out line. There is an engine govenor as well as a rear end governor. I'm prone to free up rear as to over rev engine. Larger tires give more speed but at a loss of torque which will not help ur pulling of a race car. Clean air filter/fuel filter n plugs r cheap. An exhaust/fuel mod can also be dun. Start with ur clutches n my hunch is ul find that to be ur problem.

2nd part of problem is the smoke which cud b caused by rings or valve problem which wud decrease ur power. Start with the cheap fixes 1st!
