Re: 88 ezgo 2 cycle flooding out runs fine on top end
If it runs worse when the choke is pulled out a little, then it is likely not running lean.
Maybe it is a little rich and you need to turn the low speed mixture screw in a few turns to lean out the low rpm mixture. |

Re: 88 ezgo 2 cycle flooding out runs fine on top end
what is the common setting for this screw kyerik? Thats the one with the lock nut right? Ive read that these carbs are non adjustable but i can tell they have been messed with also what is the setting for the other screw, I have it set 1 1/2 turns out. I noticed today while riding if i push the cart<not much at all just get it rolling i can jump on and it takes off like normal but it will not take off from dead stop. I put a spring on the throttle cable and that seemed to help with the touchy throttle,

1.5 turns sounds about right, but you could try turning it in another half turn.
Does it run any better with the air cleaner hose disconnected? |

Hmm- my 1990 marathon just has one mixture adjustment screw. Maybe someone else can chime in about the second screw on your carb.

Re: 88 ezgo 2 cycle flooding out runs fine on top end
yeah mine has a screw with a jam/lock nut on it toward the back of the carb, the other one is toward the front and has a spring on it. If someone could let me know what they should be set on it would be great! I dont understand why if i push the cart while giving it gas it runs great, I literally only have to move it a few inches and jump on and it goes fine....

Re: 88 ezgo 2 cycle flooding out runs fine on top end
i had to push mine a few days ago to get it going myself..sounds like bad battery,,or bad starter generator brushes??
your cart may already have the shorter belt? with my stock belt i could push the cart a few feet out of my way in the shop if needed..it could not possibly start by pushing it with the stock belt"on mine". i have a 1 inch shorter belt now for more torque, and power and now with that belt it can be push started.. hope ya get it figured out soon |

That other screw sounds like the idle speed adjustment screw- it just controls how far the throttle will close.

Re: 88 ezgo 2 cycle flooding out runs fine on top end
Yeah I hope so too, the belt that's on it is a EZGO belt not sure of the number but it just seems to look too long, I don't have to push it to get it started I have to push it to get it moving! I put foot on gas roll a little ways and jump on it and it runs great its the dead stop thing I can't figure out it does the same on flat ground not as bad down hill. Now I need the settings on the 2 screws on the carb and I will try smthn else. Read they are non adjustable but they have been moved prior to me buying the cart

Re: 88 ezgo 2 cycle flooding out runs fine on top end
could the belt be the problem? if the belt is real loose id think the generator would start it fastester then when you mash it further it should be like popping the clutch..confused..
