Default checking to see if motor runs

Is it possible to hook up 12 volt battery independent of the controller direct to the motor to see if it runs?

TEST RUN A MOTOR

To test run a series motor

Remove all cables from the motor; connect a jumper from A1 to S1. Connect 12 to 24 volts, positive @ A2 and negative @ S2. Swap S1 and S2 to change rotation direction.

To test run a Sep-Ex (regen) motor

Remove all cables from the motor; connect a jumper from A1 to F1 and a jumper from A2 to F2. Connect 12 to 24 volts, positive @ A1/F1 and negative @ A2/F2. Swap F1 and F2 to change rotation direction.

NOTE: some Sep-Ex motors are labeled S1 & S2 in place of F1 & F2

CAUTION:

Allowing a motor to spin @ high RPM can cause catastrophic failure!

As Stevegrmich said in the above post, if you do this test, mak sure you use two wrenches to remove the cables on the motor, don't let the stud turn in the motor case

I've searched all over this site and Google looking for a chart that identifies which terminal is which on the motor. I have a Hitachi MT-320-07. Pic below. Please help![IMG][/IMG]

The terminals in the middle are the stator coil(S1,S2). The two terminals on the end are the rotor/armature (A1,A2).
