Default engine won't start

I have a 85 ezgo cart with the 244cc engine 2 cycle. Cart was running fine earlier this summer then it started dying while driving. Only way it would run was to choke - release - choke - release and eventually wouldn't run at all. Took it the dealer for repair - he said I had low compression at 110 lbs. So i brought it home and rebuilt the upper part of the engine (jug/piston/rings/gaskets). It still won't start. When I spray carb cleaner in carb it starts. Both filters have gas in them which tells me the carb is getting gas. Anyone got some ideas?

Have you cleaned the carb jets?

Sounds like a carb or fuel delivery problem since the choke made it run.

Remove carb and clean very well the main jet and and such with carb cleaner and air making sure NOTHING is in the jet. If you still have the issue I would check engine seals. At 110 pounds compression the engine should have still ran fairly well so I think your main prob was not that. Could be fuel delivery via pump. If it is not pushing enough fuel the choke would help to make it run.

If the crank seals hasn't been replaced I'd start there
