Default How to remove drive clutch bolt?

Hello, I bought the drive clutch spring kit, but I cannot get the bolt off the drive clutch. I have a 97, so I'm aware that it is a reverse thread. The clutch spins when I try to crank on the bolt. Do I just need someone stronger than my wife to hold the clutch when I crank on it?

If it's a '97 then the clutch bolt likely is reverse-thread; as in, you turn it clockwise to remove it. My motor spins counter-clockwise and it's standard thread. I also use an impact to remove mine, but if your wife is strong enough then you may get it manually.

I used a swivel and a small extension and impacted mine off as well. You will think that it wont fit in there but it will. Same with the puller....it will fit.

The impact did the trick, it came right off. Did you use an impact with the clutch puller as well?

I did. I've heard some guys say not to, but it's such a PIA if you don't.

we used to apply a little heat to the snowmobile ones under pressure and they would pop right off.
