Knock noise on start off
Suddenly I'm getting a solid knock noise when I switch from forward to reverse or reverse to forward and take off. I'm havering trouble tracking it down, I'm guessing driven clutch related. It's just one good clang then she takes off as normal, and it's only when I switch directions. What am I looking for here?

Sorry, I forgot I don't have a signature. I'll try to change that. It's an 86 marathon, 2 smoke.

Re: Knock noise on start off
Now that I think about it, it may have started when I experimented with the shorter drive belt, which I quickly switched back to stock because it squealed like crazy. Hmmm. Pro's what do you think I've got? Thanks for the help.

Could be secondary, how ever with the lift and
springs and such maybe check all the spots that torque could shift parts when changing directions? |

It's the secondary. The front have spins free when I gas it until it hits the helix hard. Ive got it on the bench now. Is that supposed to be that way?

Re: Knock noise on start off
It's suppose to move freely but if it's make a knock noise the ramp buttons may be worn down to much

They have, The ramps are pretty scarred up also. I'm debating on tracking down the buttons or replacing the whole thing.

Re: Knock noise on start off
You may be able to smooth out the ramps and get new buttons but if other parts are bad might as well replace it cause not many parts are available for the clutch

Re: Knock noise on start off
That's what I'm trying to decide, how bad is too bad. Not sure how to gauge the spring worthiness either.
