Default timing and valves

I have a 92 ezgo . How do I set the timing . And how do I know the proper setting for the valves. Advice will be very much appreciated.

Yes it is.
It runs at idle with the gas pedal pressed, but won't engage. Took off air filter and it ran for awhile, but nothing now.sprayed starting fluid ...nothing
Has new plugs and I'm getting good spark.... carb was cleaned,
but no go

I doubt it's running at all, just the starter turning it over, is the exhaust hot?

Cha-ching !
You're right. Iguess its not running at all. It didn't occur to me that's what was happening.
I can rebuild an old chevy but the gas cart thing is new to me so I really do appreciate your advice. I had a mech check it out when I bought it, he adjusted the valves , put in new plugs and gave it a once over. Said the valves would probably need to be readjusted and the timingset. Dont know why he couldnt do it then. Especially for the 150 he charged me.
Hence why I'm trying to figure this out on my own. Can you suggest a good troubleshooting start?

Be careful with the starter fluid, I would pull the line off the carb and see if it's pumping gas, catch it in a can or glass.

and is it getting a GOOD! spark?

I'll give it a shot,, it seems to be getting gas because its spitting gas out the carb while it's turning over. Still leaning to believe that it's valves and timing,..Gonna try it tomorrow.
Thanks guys.... Let ya know how it works out.........for tonight, ,,Go Heat !

You can adjust the lifters in 15 minutes, just watch the reusable O ring on the cover
and make sure the cam lobe is away from the lifter you're adjusting.

Thanks Stovebolt. Gapped the valves ,,,, she fired right up and runs perfect.
Appreciate the help.I found the marks on the timing gear and it lined up each flat spot on the cam. After that it was a cakewalk.
