Looking at an ez go
Looking at buying this ez go. Anyone know what year or model it might be? Seller doesn't know much about it. Says it takes straight gas so assume its a 4 stroke. He says it doesn't run, the starter won't engage. He's asking $700. How does that sound. Thanks for any info.

It looks like either 1988 or 1989 which will make it a 2PG high output or a 3PG both of which are 2 stroke engines. The seller says it takes straight gas because it has an oil injector for the 2 stroke oil. Many people like to disconnect this and premix the oil and gas because if the pump fails then the engine will not be lubricated and will lock.
The starter will not engage could be a broken microswitch or a defective start solenoid. I would not feel good about spending $700 without being able to crank the engine and check the compression. Dave |

That style *was* also used in 93 with the 295 4-stroke - just to be safe, check the spark plug(s) - if there is one of them on the drivers side and the flywheel is facing the front of the cart, Dave is correct and accurate as stated above - if it has TWO plugs facing upwards and the flywheel on the side, then it's a 93 and has the 295 4-stroke ...
Either way I'll second Daves opinion on hearing it run or at VERY least checking compression - did You try jumping the two big posts on the solenoid to see if that spins it over? |

It says right on the side that it is an 84, lol jk. There should be a plate on the engine under the starter that will give you model information on the engine. I would at least turn it over by hand make sure it is not locked up and that will give you some kind of idea what the commission is like, if it spins freely then it has very little compression but if it is harder to spin then it has some compression.
