I had exactly the same problem, battery won't charge, new VR, had power at VR red/white, no power at SG red/white(cart side). Traced red/white back 6 inches and found short. Quick fix and up and running/charging again. Thanks Prowleguy1, I too am 2 hours away from a dealer. You saved my assets.

Just for further referance...I've had quite few EFI car's that the wire harness connections at the AVR plug in would break. Yamaha did come out with a "fix". It is a new AVR blue plug in with about 4 inches of wire and butt connectors. If anyone needs the part number I will post it.

I would like to have that part number. I had a short in the r/w wire going into the SG(cart side) Bought an after market VG that sent 17.5 volts back to the battery. Reinstalled old original VG and am still getting 15 volts back to the battery. I no longer trust my harness so that item may help lower overall resistance in my charging system. I'm waiting for the green VR wire to short now.
