2011 Yamaha Elec Drive
I have a Yamaha electric drive that is missing the "Drive" in it! This cart has been sitting for several months and ran fine before storing. Although I didn't drive it I did periodically plug the charger in maybe every other week. A few days ago I pulled it out of storage and right away starting charging the batteries. Once this was completed I drove it around the yard and it quit on me. pushed it back recharged it and nothing other that an occasional surge, I mean like it was going to full throttle all at once then nothing. I knew the batteries were old didn't hesitate on buying new ones considering the age and it really didn't seam to have the range it once did. At this time I converted to 8-6volt batteries instead of the 8-6 volt combo. Batteries fully charged and cart is still doing the same thing. Solenoid is clicking, voltage on both sides of the key switch, but I can push cart freely with no resistance, this was working before but the alarm sounds when it is pushed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 2011 Yamaha Elec Drive
Cart should resist pushing unless switched to tow. Could mean a bad speed sensor, which is the plastic cap at the back end of the motor with two wires coming out.

Re: 2011 Yamaha Elec Drive
And this would prevent the cart from operating completely? Any way to test this component?
Thanks for your response! |

Re: 2011 Yamaha Elec Drive
I've heard of people unhooking it altogether at the harness above the motor to see if anything changes, but I'm not sure. That's above my pay grade. Sorry. I might have a stock spare though.

Re: 2011 Yamaha Elec Drive
Yes, seems like it was unplugged when I purchased it and it ran fine. I plugged it back in due to kids around. But, I have unplugged it and still no movement.

Re: 2011 Yamaha Elec Drive
Sounds like the controller has failed if the alarm sounds when pushed but no resistance. It should resist pushing as long as the Run/Tow switch is in Run.

Alarm sounds when pushed but no resistance? Soundsl like a motor problem.
