I've used acetone in small quantities with quick and thorough water rinses for really bad spots. It actually breaks down the vinyl so it's the chemical equivalent of sanding the vinyl. I'd only recommend it as a last ditch effort if you're going to recover it anyway, so you so t be out anything if it fails.

I was in the process of re-upholstering the rear seat covers and when I removed the black plastic cover to the rear seat it had a lot of dark and white on the wood. I keep reading vinegar and water to clean it and probably sand the wood. Will this work or do I need to get a back seat upper unit assembly all together?

I use the same along with magic eraser! In some cases there will be spots that do not come out no matter what you use. This is due to the mold etc coming thru the back side of vinyl. I have not tried it yet but have the vinyl prep and paint to try. I know a few people that have used it on their boats and highly recommend it. No cracking, peeling etc.

Cool Thanks, this was mold on the wood and when I opened it to change the seat covers and re-upholster the mold had sipped into the foam. My two girls ride back there so i cannot risk it. New seat assemblies for the back seat will need to be purchased. Oh well.
