FE350/272 carryall clutch question
Hi my clutch went out on my 272 carry all. The part number is 101833906. the dealer is out of them...backordered till???? So i shopped around and found a couple but they are like 80= more than the dealer which i thought strange. Anyway dealer has a clutch for DS part number 101833904 i believe. The only difference is a heavier spring for the carry all. They call it heavy duty whatever. But i dont use it for work. Its a leisure cart. I actually but a rear seat on it and took of dump bed. Anyway will this clutch hold up to carrying around 4 adults max? I mean dont 4 adults go on a DS? I know its the same motor. Just everything beefed up on the 272 carryall. The dealer is saying that the DS clutch will work but he cant warrantee it because its not correct clutch. I dont think it will matter personally...but it is heavier already than the DS. Actually wont the lighter spring make it a tad faster? lol
What do you guys think? its cheaper as well.. |

Re: FE350/272 carryall clutch question
Actually just talked to cartspartplus and he told me theres no difference. The clutch is identical just a heavier spring for cart with key ignition to help it idle. No danger of anything...so noone really had a chance to say anything here just thought id post this in case anyone has same issue. Thnx

Re: FE350/272 carryall clutch question
There are four different clutches. 101833902, 101833904, 101833906, and 101833908. The 902 is a golf car clutch. It won't allow the engine to idle without engaging. You can't use that one. The 904 would work, but as the engine revved it would engage faster than the 906 and generate speed quicker while sacrificing torque. The 906 is what came on your cart new, it is like the 904 in the sense that it will allow the car to idle without engaging. Once the RPMs rise, it will engage. The 906 engages slower than the 904, generating more torque and higher RPM, while taking a little longer to get up to speed. The 908 is the same way. It generates more torque than the 906 but takes longer to get to full speed. The 908 was used on the 272 with the FE400 engine. It would work fine on your 350 and may be a better option than the 904 if you're looking for more torque. The 272s were factory governed at aroudn 3750 RPM vs 3150 on a golf car. This is because of the lower gearing in the differential. They'd achieve the same speed as a Carryall 2, but rev much higher and generate more torque because of the lower gear and clutch package. With a 908 clutch, you're not going to get to full engagement of the clutch until you're nearly at MAX RPM.
