I read somewhere you can run a generic electric pump Im assuming low pressure like for a garden tractor or something from napa. has any one else tried this and how did it work out?

Re: G1 Fuel Pump
It's been done but it has to be low pressure I don't recommend a electric ones just because generally when your fuel pump stops working it's because your crank seals are out and losing crank case pulse causing fuel pump to stop working... When crank seals are out it leans out fuel and air mixture causing engine damage with electric pump you don't know they are out and end up scores cylinder or locking the motor up...

Re: G1 Fuel Pump
Spicyunicorn and I disagree on electric fuel pumps and that's ok. I use them exclusively on my gas carts and Iove them. I use Carter #P60504 which delivers 3-4 psi. Why do I prefer electrics?
1) They serve as backflow preventors 2) Little or, in the case of my G1, no choking needed.......ever. 3) Consistent delivery of gas rather then more or less gas depending on engine rpms Spicyunicorn is right, though. If someone is using an eletric in place of a vacuum pump because that pump isn't working right then they are asking for other problems. If your vacuum pump is good then I think a conversation is a nice "modern" upgrade to really old technology. Again, just my 2 cents. |
