01 g16 drivability help please
bought an 01 g16a gas has sat for at least a year. Cleaned out the carb and seafoam in tank, especially when it gets colder outside when you stop it doesn't want to run, sputters, hesitates but once it starts going runs great. Also seems to struggle on hills. Please remember that I am good mechanically with bikes & cars but very new to carts...thanks in advance for the help I appreciate it!

Re: 01 g16 drivability help please
When you cleaned out the carb did you take the jets out and blow forced air through the jets and then through the passages? Check belt with if it's less than one inch it needs replaced also put the cart in nuetral and hold the peddle wide open belt should ride to the top of the primary clutch and sink to the bottom of the secondary clutch... Probably wouldn't hurt to set valve lash on it also

Re: 01 g16 drivability help please
Primary is on motor secondary is on the transaxle if they arent functioning properly they may need a good cleaning and a little dry lithium lube.... Carbs on these are easy I'd take it off and take all the jets out and blow air through it... since yours has hard time getting going I'd pay extra attention to pilot jet and it's passage number 8

The owners manual has the basic maintenance info, and is a free download.
https://www.yamahagolfcar.com/ownersmanualdownload/ Do not over grease the clutches. 1-2 pumps. With the belt off, the primary should move in and out easily. Remove the cover on the primary and check the rollers for flat spots. There should be no visible gobs of grease inside. |

Also, "globs of grease" aren't necessarily a indicator of a problem either, just a symptom of over-doing it with grease in the past. Extra grease can be scooped out.
