Default Effect of Worn Secondary Helix Ramps

How does ramp wear affect cart performance? If ramps are worn will it still open fully to achieve top gear ratio?

It does seem like ruts in the helix would reduce spring pre-load, too. What effect does lower spring pressure cause?

Thanks
Chilly

Yes, worn ramp shoes will diminish performance. Just like worn/dished secondary sheaves, and gouged out ramps on the sliding sheave. The same goes for your rollers and weights.

Replace worn parts once, and you might never have to do it again.

Secondary springs will "relax" over time causing you to lose torque/hill climbing ability.

on the positive side the dust cover on my primary clutch seems fine. Other than that...

Oh well. Not unexpected when one buys a 16 yr old golf course fleet cart. I think I'll start by fixing the primary, then the secondary.

Most of the time it causes slow shifting, the engine at wrong rpm too low or high and you lose power because of that. It can cause loss of top speed, sometimes the belt wont go to the top of the primary when its worn. Can cause lurching and poor shifting or take off, belt does not work smooth as it should. Yeah they last for very long time, but when they are worn it does affect performance.
