Well the saga continues. I figured I’d buy a voltage regulator so went to yamaha and bought oem and installed. With the new one the cart does nothing. It actually gets hot and even melted the main fuse. So I put the old one back in and it fires right up albeit only charging at 11.98 volts. That amount does vary based on rpm but that’s at wide open.

Well putting in a new one and it doing what it did, doesn't make sense, but OK.

The car is so new I would be surprised that the VR went bad already. As stated, I would look for the green wire being broken, or the connector being pulled out of the blue holder, that Ive seen.

I haven't replaced a VR in at least 15 years

After much help, frustration and finally downloading the wiring diagram I have have managed to solved the problem. Before I bought the cart the guy told me he had hooked the battery up backwards and blown the regulator. He ordered one from amazon or somewhere and installed it. Tonight while on my second oem regulator I studied the wiring before connecting this one and smoking it. Basically the precious owner had reversed the plug for the relay with the voltage regulator. I used the diagram and swapped them back and my cart is up and charging as it should. Wanted to post Incase anyone else has this issue as both those plugs are interchangeable. Thanks for the assistance

The plugs are color coded, aren't they? Blue & blue, black & black. Who knows about aftermarket stuff tho.

I don’t recall now without going to look. However the plugs are the same and will interchange if someone isn’t paying attention.

Finally found a post/thread that is exactly what is happening to us.

My son’s work at local golf course. They have 2 G29’s that are not charging...I think they are 2015. Both batteries were very weak. Replaced one battery and called it good. Next time I played they were towing it in.

We did the voltage test where you connect to green wire on S/G and got 11.8 on one and 10.8 on the other. Also checked two other carts from fleet that have no issues staying running in exact same testing method and they were only at 12.3.

Keep reading that it should be showing 16 when doing the test. Any info before my boys become parts changers would be appreciated. Is 11.8 OK? How about 12.3? Thanks in advance.
