Default Starting problem

Hi everyone thks for stopping by n hopefully helping me out with this problem I have a g16 Yamaha gas golf cart some times it won’t kick over when I hit the gas paddle n I looked up problems on here n saw people sayin it’s the stop switch so I replaced it with a new one n it still has the problem.sometimes it takes me like 20 mins to get it goin n sometimes it starts quick.i have to keep hittin the Gad padel to get it to start .does anyone know what else could it be thks

Check the brushes in your starter/generator. Chances are they're worn beyond their usable limits.

See attached pictures.

I circled the starter/generator in red. on the S/G there are rectangle rubber caps. (circled in yellow). Remove the cap, the brush is right underneath there.

See next pictures

A new brush will stick up way above the holder. IF it is close to even with the top of the holder, they're worn and need to be replaced.
