G19e motor ,brush inspect,or replace

Have the motor on bench,want to get end cap off,have removed the 4 long screwsat end cap,
Does the pig tail need to come off?
There is two screw driver type head screws on end cap do they come out before end cap comes off?
Can I tap on splined end of armature with brass hammer to get end cap off?

The two screws hold the bearing retainer ring, they need to come out, and you will need longer screws to grab it to put ring back in place on reassembly. Mark the cap so the wires point to the same terminals as they originally did to ease reinstall.

Brushes looked fine,they were still protruding 1/2" above the brush holder,
