S/G belt is slipping like a MOFO! How to tighten it up?

Friction comes from the sides of the belt and if the belt or pulleys are worn past that point it wont matter how much you tighten.
If the pulleys are worn you can go a step wider up to a 4L belt to get it off the bottom.

Got it on the 4L width, but whats the length? I will be buying it at napa auto

Picked up a belt at napa. Ill post the part # once i know it fits.

Put the new belt on last night. Seems to be working like a charm. Belt is from NAPA part # 4L320.

This belt and the old one ride high in th pulley on the S/G i noticed rust spots deeper in the pulley groove. So for the next belt ill try a narrow one.

Got the belt installed all was well then it started slipping again. The S/G is a mother to get the belt tight. We wrapped a strap around it a stood on the spot where the bags sit and lifted it up. I think its finally tight.

I HATE the three bolt idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My belt was slipping too. The pulley was glazed up nice. I took the belt off the S/G and hit the gas pedal while holding a piece of emery cloth on it. This put enough of a rough surface on the pulley and eliminated the issue...so far.

Acetone and a steel wire brush on the sides of the belt will break any glazing on it also.
