Wire size
How does a dude like myself know the gauge wire I have on my cart. I got this bunch of numbers off but dont see any I am familiar with. AWM 1232/1283/1346 600V OR 102269 1000V VW-1 --- 182067 (L) CSA TEW 105C 600V FT1 W750 ... I do see a # 4 on the lug.

Re: Wire size
If the lug is stamped #4 then the wire is probably #4. Now if you can actually see the wire as it enters the #4 lug and it takes all the space then it is most likely #2 cable. If it is taking up only half the space in the #4 lug then it is probably #6 cable (IMO). I just changed my #6 wires for #4 and #2 welding wire (that is what I had on hand from another project).
If the wires (connectors/insulation) are good and clean then run the cart and check for warm wires. If they aren't warm then you're good to go. |
