The old one came with my torque kit from buggies unlimited it's a mzj200d alltrax #sol-36v 200a. It came with two diode one for the small post and one for the big post. I bought the new one at a local dealer and it didn't have any diodes with it so I just assumed that the 36v was causing the problem's When I just went out there the light was off I cut the switch on it blinked four times and stayed on. When i cut the switch off it stayed on still. Does it have to sit a while before it goes out?

Actually that solenoid comes with a pre-charge resistor for the large posts on the solenoid and orientation of installation does not matter. However, the diode you received is critical in how it is installed. One end of the diode has a silver band and a red wire, this end should be on the same side (small post) as the large post that has the positive side from the battery pack. On a PDS cart the yellow wire will also be connected to the same small post on the solenoid as the silver band on the resistor.

It's not two diodes, the one on the small posts is the diode, the one on the larger post is a resistor. And yes the new solenoid needs them. Sounds like that may be the problem, if you don't have your diode installed.

Here are two things to read to help you understand how things function.

On the old solenoid the big and small post where on the same side and the new one the two small post are sideways in the middle of the two big post. So I'm not sure with is pos. or neg.

Solenoids whether it is the big post or small post do not have a positive or negative, they are not polarity marked, what makes one side positive versus the other is what wire you hook to it. Power goes to the key switch, when you turn switch on, power then goes to one of the small sides of the solenoid, this will be the positive side, as that is where the positive voltage is coming from, the side of the diode that has the silver and will go on this terminal.

Now some solenoids like All Brights have a positive or negative marked because a diode function is built in.

the white rodger 586 does not have the small post on the same side. It has a small post in the front and in the back in between the two large post.. So would you know what goes where? I have the yellow on front and the blue on back. Is that right? Should I put the silver band and red end toward the front with the yellow wire? The larger post on the right is going to the battery pack and the one on the left is going to the controller.

I don't believe that on the 586 that it matters which side the battery pack positive goes to on the solenoid large post. I have mine on the back large post. IT does matter that the yellow wire and diode with the silver band are oriented to the same small post.

Yea, you said to put the sliver band red end with the positive. But, the problem was I thought the blue wire was the positvie :( However, altrax said that it had nothing to do with the light staying on. He thinks that since I added 48v to the controller it needs to be reprogrammed cause he thinks it may have caused a glitch in it. So he wants me to send it in to be re-calibrated. So after this weekend of camping it will be in the mail. All I've got to do is when I turn it off I'll have to turn off the tow switch also.

Please be sure to reply back once you get it back from Alltrax to see if this corrected the issue. Much appreciated.
