1996 36volt TXT needs a little speed
Ok I use a 36 volt EZ-Go to pull a drag car, lifted, with some 23" atv style tires. Has new batteries and runs great just takes a bit too long to get to the end of the track. Plenty of torque.
What do I need for a few more mph? motor? controller? Ring and pinion? Charge life is important whatever mods I perform cant decrease run time by too much. |

For your application, if you don't want to reduce run time it convert it all to 48v, which would include upgrading most of you already pointed out.. controller, solenoid, wires, and fnr switch.

Motor rewind by EMP or Plum Quick.

Takes too long to get to the end of the track? Compared to what? The drag car ?
A 48v conversion would be the only logical thing... a gear change will hurt you on the tow back. 48v will give you 25-30% increase in speed and torque. Check it out. |

Re: 1996 36volt TXT needs a little speed
Looking like a conversion would be big $$$$$, batteries, chargers, converter. Anyone got prices on what all is required for the swap?
Thinking a motor mod would add maybe 3-4 mph?? has plenty of torque as is, pulls car pretty decent. If I can mod and go as fast as a stock 48 volt I think I would be ok |

How old are your batteries, and do you have a set of 4 gauge wires on it?

Re: 1996 36volt TXT needs a little speed
Brand new batteries, and I put 1- cables connecting all them, factory ones to the controller and motor though still.
It runs great as is,decent fast right after a charge then about a minute of running seems to lose maybe a couple mph. just too slow, but I hate to get outrun. Even in the golfcart. You should see the car |
