Anybody use/used the LVS LV3648 Charger
Well, it looks like my obc is my charging problem....So, I stumbled upon this charger on www.lvssales.com. The claim is that I can do away with my OBC because the charger has a built in computer that manages all charging. Here is the quote:
"Thousands Sold for over 10 Years - Best Warranty in the Business! Best golf cart battery charger on the market also the best warranty available. These chargers are not merely automatic chargers but FULLY automatic. This is the only charger on the market that not only shuts-off automatically but also turns back on when the built in computer senses that your systems batteries charge is low. You can leave the LV3648 Charger plugged into your vehicle for an extended period of time and when you return, you will return to a fully charged vehicle. The Multi-Volt Super Charger is the newest state-of-the-art charger, warranted for 12 months plus a 5 Years warranty on the transformer! This charger is the absolute best buy on the market. It is the only Multi-Volt Golf Cart Battery Charger available. This charger can be switched from 36 volts to 48 volts by simply changing a switch located on the front of the Charger. The LV3648 will work on any and all electric Golf Carts, both 48 volt and 36 volt systems. We make this Charger available to you for only $239.50. We challenge you to find an equivalent charger for less anywhere in the market. YOU WILL NOT FIND ONE! Nothing like this on the market!" So, any advice or experience with this charger??? |

They seem to work OK but if you ever have any problems with it, apparently customer service is non-existent.
They may be a disposable charger if it quits. Why not fix or replace the OBC? The LVS is an old style ferro resonant charger, if you're buying a new one, DeltaQ has one of the best. If your looking for a used one, Lester is good and Ezgo chargers don't use the OBC either. |

Re: Anybody use/used the LVS LV3648 Charger
From what I have seen locally there are three possible problems that owners have told me about?
#1- Slower "max charge rate" 36 volt 17 amps---48 volts 15 amps #2- Neighbor found out the hard way that when ordering for 1995 qnd up 48 volt Club Car the unit to get is ( LV3648-04 ) and price is $255.50 rather than the blanket price at top of page that you read that said $239.50 because it came with CC 36 volt plug 2 prong. If you need plug for both 36V and 48 V other than CC round you will have to purchase each seperatly? #3-Just like DOUGMCP said neighbor also found out the hard way that once the one year is up just throw it away IF YOU HAVE A PROBLM, as they dont offer help with service, repairs or parts? You already have a charger that I think is far superior in quality and ability to keep batterys in top notch shape than any other on market, when its matched with CC OBC. And repair parts are available from many sourses and Lester Electric has always been very helpful for my questions and offering free advise. Besides it wont cost you any more to replace OBC than the LV charger would cost and you already have the charger? |

Re: Anybody use/used the LVS LV3648 Charger
you can buy 2 OBC,s for the price of that charger..............having said that yes i have sold close to 10 of them over the years but never to bypass a bad OBC.............the oldest one ( lvs charger) is now 8 to 9 years old and has been problem free ever since as well as the others, i have never had a complaint about them but everyone i sold was for E-Z go carts, LVS can be a tough place to deal until you get to the right people when you do they have done things for me like if they sent me a wrong part and i would call and tell them look if i don,t have the part tomorrow i,m losing the job they would overnight me the part............so theres some good and bad just like everywhere........................................ ..
