Check / Change the gear oil - we use 80/90 weight gear oil. Curious if you checked the carb. I can't tell you how many Club Cars I have seen without the carb butterfly.

No. But since you put it like that....I'll check it tomorrow. Thanks.

I PUT A 'TINY TACH' ON AND DISCONNECTED THE GROUND WIRE ON THE REV LIMITER.
Gps said it went 18mph with the rev limiter cutting out at 3400 rpm on 22" tires. Now at 4500 rpm she is going 25 mph on same tires. Cool thing is it does it up and down hills. Whoohoo.

Sounds like the main shaft bearings are shoot. The one on the left side of the cart get no oil and goes out. The replacement bearings are sealed so they don't need to get gear oil to them. It's not that hard to replace them. Take the trans. out, stand it on the left tire, split the case and remove the right half axle and all. Now your into the gears. On the bottom of that top shaft that is the forward and reverse shaft the bearing may even be broke in half. You should replace all the bearings and syc's at the same time. I just finished a 99 Carryall with that same problem. Hope this is some help for you.

Sounds like a problem with the shifting mechanism inside your transaxle...possible a broken bearing. I have one that had the same noise and that is what I found. I ordered parts from golfcartpartsdirect.com
have fun

Scottb,

get one of these pumps to change the oil easily...about $12.00 at West Marine...Walmart has them for about $7.00....the pump is used to change the fluid on a boats outdrive....

The tube at the bottom goes into the white pump...the tube and pump are screwed onto the the lube bottle...the black tip goes in to the tranny....PUMP AWAY!!
