Re: Honda 24hp impossible to shift
Call Tom at CPP. I got a CVTech clutch for my Honda 20 from him. It has an idler bearing on it. I have no problems shifting and the belt is like a banjo string

Re: Honda 24hp impossible to shift
My workhorse with a big block and comet 1190 clutch is much harder to shift sitting still. I have just gotten used to shifting her just as she rolls to a stop in this way it will shift smooth as glass. Maybe this will help

Re: Honda 24hp impossible to shift
I'll have to try that out. i got the new jakes shifter on and it really helped with the shifting stiffness but it wont stay in neutral....yet another headache!

Re: Honda 24hp impossible to shift
So far , I think mr. essness wins...
The idler bearing clutch seems to be the ticket long term for this issue.. and some of the other corrections.. |

Re: Honda 24hp impossible to shift
ok, the clutch spring is the culprit but I have no idea what kind of clutch this is. Can anyone identify this clutch...brand name?
The Honda has a keyed 1" shaft if that might narrow it down a bit clutch.jpgclutch 2.jpg |

Re: Honda 24hp impossible to shift
That is a stock ez-go clutch, at least on the out side.
you could get a hevier spring (again from Tom at CPP) but I would recommend talking to Tom about another clutch, The performance differance is tremendous |

I notice that Tom has a performance clutch, that it for the taper shaft that I am going to be getting.. I tapered my vtwin in order to keep the stock clutch, but I need to go up a bit I am afraid..it just doesn't have the bite it needs..I looked for the link but now it isn't there...just the two stroke one. I still think it would work for the taper shaft, but as you said Essness, if he has a 1" shaft under there, he has some nice options.. |
