Squeeking top
My oem top squeeks VERY bad - and is very annoying. Im thinking of using nylon washers.. BUT before I do & not wanting to reinvent the wheel, I seen some discussions here about chopping the tops. Has someone come up with a "pre-fabed kit to chop the TXT tops 3-5 inches ?
* Also I have decided to paint the top black. I am planning on using the Krylon spray paint for "plastics". Any opinions welcome ! Thanks. Bill |

Re: Squeeking top
They squeek from movement rubbing the plastic against the metal frame. So more plastic would not help in my opinion. I have used rubber with good results and even spray lube or silicone spray with some good results if applied regularly. The rubber from inner tubes cut up and fitted between the two squeaking parts worked best for me. Part of the problem being it is hard to tighten the bolts enough thru the plastic without crushing it... Make certain your roof frames are not moving when you drive, tighten them up at the cart mounts.

Re: Squeeking top
Ohhh, so its NOT from the bolted areas ? So washers wouldnt help ? Interesting. Maybe when I take to top off for painting- I can lay a huge silicone bead along the top of the frame & let it dry before reassembly..I dont THINK silicone squeeks...
* Thanks for your replies. Quote:
