FE290 Piston Removal Question
back with more questions.....is it possible to get the piston out of these FE290 motors without removing the crank? I know that some engines have a cutout at the base of the cylinder so you can remove the wrist pin when the piston is bottomed out.
Based on some support I received here in the forum I am doing a quick deglaze & ring change and was hoping to do as little dis-assembly as possible. Any insight that anyone can provide will be much appreciated |

Re: FE290 Piston Removal Question
Yes the crank can stay in it.
Remove the case side cover and you acess the connecting rod bolts, remove the bolts and rod cap and the piston/rod assy comes out the top. You will need a side cover gasket, head gasket, ring set. I would suggest a set of valve seals as well. |

Re: FE290 Piston Removal Question
found the torque specifications, downloaded a pdf of FE290 engine supplement and it has everything. Hopefully my 14 year old son is going to provide the labor.....says he wants to learn to work on engines since he is the one who tears them up......seems to make sense to me
