Default 06 Club Car solenoid clicking, will only run with booster pack on battery

06 gas Club Car DS

been running perfect, rode maybe 100 yards to my neighbors and it wouldnt run when i tried to leave. I assumed it was the battery so i put my booster pack on it and it ran fine. Hooked the battery up to a charger and it showed the battery was fully charged. We noticed it "clicking" so my neighbor assumes it is the solenoid. First, does everyone agree with that? If so, do I have to get a Club Car solenoid or can i use a lawn mower solenoid?

Thanks a lot guys

Check all the cables now. Indication is that more power runs the cart = bad connection or weak batteries.

No it doesn't d4ster. I have seen them where they break down internally. You could jumper across the two large poles on the solenoid with a screwdriver to prove it. If the engine turns, bad solenoid.
Hope that gets you along the line a little further.

There are two major terminals and two minor if you will. The first Major terminal is a direct link from the battery, the second is actuated via the minor terminals when they energise. This allows the current to pass from one to the other of the major terminals. If you bridge the major terminals you are by-passing the relay and in essence creating a direct path to the starter. Your screwdriver will create this path. Simply place it firmly across the two larger posts on the solenoid and see if the motor spins, if it does, it will show that (since it clicks anyway) that the solenoid is at fault internally.
