Default 2002 Club car

I a looking at a 2002 Club Car on craigslist can some one tell me about the engine. What size is it and are they reliable.

Most likely, it's a Kawasaki FE290D 9.5 hp, Club car has been using them in their carts since 1992, So, yes, they are a reliable engine!

Have the owner check the bar code tag on the engine shroud, and it will show the model number!
(my engine is an FE350D 11.5 hp, but, the pics should give you an idea what to look for!)

I remember reading about a Club Car engine that had a tendency to drop the connecting rod anyone know what engine that mite be?

The 85 to 91 KF82 flat head engine!
