2001 DS has trouble shifing gears
The rpm will go very high but it won't shift into another gear at times.
I have stopped, put into reverse and then it will shift. Put back to forward and it will now shift. Once it warms up it seems to do better. I don't know if it is going from 1st to 3rd or if it has a 3rd gear. But it's a big difference. How many shifts should I notice? Is the shifting controlled electrically, speed or both? It is progressively getting worse, any ideas why it having trouble? Thanks |

Re: 2001 DS has trouble shifing gears
There is no "Shifting" It's got a CVT Clutch setup. (Continuously Variable Transmission) The transmission itself on has two gears, forward and reverse. The gear ratios are changing constantly due to the position of the belt on the clutches. If you're experiencing jerking you may have a clutch failure.
