Default Re: Another starter/generator question!

Yeah I've tried connecting it the correct way but will not turn over. I forgot to look at belt to see if it was trying to start backwards but I do remember that popping thru carb into air box. So I'm assuming it would of been trying to start backwards. It starts right up if I switch the to lug connections I indicated earlier but will not charge. I researched performed all tests regarding how to test the starter/generator and also the V/R. And from what I seeing on my volt meter it indicated the starter/generator was bad. With that being said, I was just curious if anyone has heard of or seen one that would only start up and run if the F2 and A1 lug connections were switched at the starter as mine has to be. Thanks again

Please don't be affended with this question, are the battery connections correctly installed on the battery posts (red to positive-then to solenoid/black to negative-then to starter generator)? I have also seen batteries that "dead shorted" and reversed polarity. At this point I'm just .....ready for another drink!

yes the battery connections are correct. No offense taken. I think I was literally smoking a pack of cigarettes while trying to figure this out, and thought if I drank a few more It would make it easier. But a pack later and a 12 pack later, I just ordered a new starter/generator. Just finished installing it And what do you know, I hook it up the correct way, and it starts right up and charges the battery great. But I will say, it still puzzles me as to why the old one did not want to start unless you reversed the F2 and A1 lugs. Is it possible someone rebuilt it at some point and kris crossed the lugs inside!?
