G-2 motor mounts
I recently purchased a G-2. It has a 4" lift with 20" tires. The vin/model number is J38-072470. I noticed the motor mounts are bad. I was wondering if there are better aftermarket mounts available other than the Yamaha ones. Thank you for any info.

Re: G-2 motor mounts
I don't believe there is anything out there, other than stock mounts. I put new ones in 4 yrs. ago, and they are still good, so stock will hold up! Just make sure the torque cable is there and adjusted correctly.

Re: G-2 motor mounts
Thank you for the reply. I'm assuming the torque cable is about 3" long with threads on the end of it. Well it's just hanging not hooked up to anything so I was wondering if you have any input on where it is supposed to be connected. Thank you.

Re: G-2 motor mounts
You can trash the mounts without the cable, but usually it just bogs on take off. I put two 15hp clones in G9s with stock mounts and the cable. One been running 2yr and still fine, the other I just did this summer but was pulling wheelies with it last weekend. Had tires almost foot off ground one time, with stock G9 clutches. IIRC G2 are same mounts just older, but not looked at one lately.

Re: G-2 motor mounts
be sure to only get genuine yamaha mounts, i went the cheap route and got burned, one broke the first time i drove it,
then i took my old ones and welded them up using some pieces of metal, but then it broke the front part that bolts to the engine, |

Re: G-2 motor mounts
It pays to get "Genuine Yamaha Parts" anytime you get parts, unless its Plowmans or somebody like that! Never ever use brand X!
