The governor limits the ground speed of the cart. The tighter the governor screw is, the faster it will allow the cart to go. Top speed with the governor is around 18-20 mph. If you bypass the governor you'll be in the 25 plus mph zone.

If you really want some more speed, just bypass the governor and hook the cable up directly to the carb. That eliminates the mechanical connection to the governor and you're cart will now gain some speed.

However......there is a downside to the extra speed.....
1. Never max the cart out for long, or engine damage will result. These engine's weren't designed for high rpm operation.
2. The added speed will mean that you'll need extra stopping time/distance. Make sure you're brakes are up to par.

Synthetic oil helps too, especially in a Splash-Lube motor.I use Castrol 10w30 Synthetic in our G16,Kendall Synthetic 30w in the Oppy, never an issue.

Do you know what the arm on axle does? I unhooked the cable from arm and hooked up to carb adjusted pedal and it scoots!!! Just wondering what to do with arm? Ziptied to bracket for now until someone tells me it's not good idea. Breaks work great! This is a blast in the snow! Thanks again for all your help

Just let it float, not gonna hurt a thing! I removed the arm on mine yrs. ago. 2 summers ago I went inside the tranny, and removed as much of the gov. as I could. But learned that wasn't really necessary.

Again, my findings are documented with pictures in G8. Page 399 in G8!
