Battery gauge
I bought a battery meter from ScottyB and will install it tomorrow. Can I use the same two wires that now are connected to the little bar gauge on the dash?

Re: Battery gauge
No...those wires are connected to the controller and need to be taped off and secured but the gauge needs different wires...one is a ground that comes from the main battery pack.... the other connects to the "cold" side of the switch so that when you turn the switch on it turns on the gauge...be sure to realize when using your multimeter that the switch is full battery pack voltage...36v or 48v so make sure to set your meter properly.

Re: Battery gauge
I prefer mine to stay on so I don't have to turn key to get a reading. Scotty says negligible draw on battery that way. Seems to be true to me

Re: Battery gauge
Well the one with bars that is on it now only comes on when I turn on the key.

Re: Battery gauge
I don't know where it came from but it was on the cart when I bought it. I will put a meter on it before I pull and replace it.

Re: Battery gauge
Okay, wires from old gauge show full voltage of battery bank. Hooked up and working. 52.3 volts two hours after Save A Battery was unplugged. What does that tell me?

Re: Battery gauge
Nothing bad..... Batteries are holding better than 100 % SOC they may slowly fall to 50.9 and still be considered to have 100 % SOC.... Now if you have a Sav-A-Battery battery maintainer why unplug it?

Re: Battery gauge
I unplugged it while I did the work on the cart, built a game camera stand and drank a couple of Budweisers.
It's plugged in now though. I won't be back down there for two or three weeks. Thus why I have the Save a battery unit. |
