Put them on and try to mark how many threads are left on the lug nuts when tight.
Then remove the spacer and put the lug nuts back on and leave the same amount of threads showing on the lug nuts. This will tell you EXACTLY how close the nuts are to the hub. You can make your decision from there whether or not you are comfortable with it.

The relationship of depth of the taper and distance to the hub is not really a point to consider for safety unless the material was near the 1/8" minimum depth.

I run 1" to 2" adapters on race cars (when they are allowed) and the key points for studs and nuts going through safety reviews are the thread pitch, amount of thread in the nut and nut material. On a steel open automotive nut they generally follow the industry standards of having thread depth equal to greater than the stud width. If you achieve that including the threads in the leading end of the nut (tapered), you should be safe.

I'd also ask him about how much torque.

The 1" spacers I used spec. 60-70 flbs.

Thanks again for the feedback on the wheel spacers. I ended up putting 1/5" spacers on the back, and 1" on the front. Now hopefully I can get the body back from Line X tomorrow and see how everything looks!
