Default EZGo gas carb/govenor linkage help

just installed a new 295cc MCI in a 2001 TXT. The instructions provide for transfer of a bracket that carries the linkage to the carb and to the govenor.
When installed the old bracket and linkage causes the throttle to be pulled open about half way; the adjustment on the link rod is not enough to compensate and close the throttle.
Also, the linkage rod connecting from the bracket to the govenor bracket (the one that oasses in front of the timing belt cover) is a two piece set up connected together by a piece of plastic tubing. This seems very weak and "floppy" when the accelerator is depressed.
Can anyone offer advice on pre MCI to MCI linkage setup?
Thanks in advance.

If no one has a viable answer then I would give Mike at http://www.mikesmotortoys.com/ a call, he will have the answer or at least be able to tell you if you will need a different bracket. There was some talk about that rubber joint and it is supposed to be there. Is it possible that you could adjust the throttle cable at either end to achieve the slack you need rather than the linkage?

Sccowboy, thanks for responding. I did try adjusting the link from the bracket to the carb but it is not long enough (about a half inch). I'll hope for a response here, if not will try Mikes's as you suggest.
thanks again

Where did you get the motor? Did it come complete? There is a new bracket in the MCI kits...

Mike, yes complete motor and MCI kit but I don't see a bracket in the packaging. Rhere are instructions to transfer the bracket from old to new engine. I did the best I could to attach usable pictures.

It would appear from pic #1 that you still have alot of thread left in that rod that you could let out. I'm talking about the rod that has the rubber joint in it. Just my observation. If there is a similar amount on the other end, you could probably lengthen that rod and get the slack you need.

Looks like you may just need to properly adjust your existing linkages? I know from experience that there are many adjustments from one to another. Only question I really have is on the down shot of the carb - will that linkage line up correctly?

Did you buy the motor locally? What does your seller tell you on this???
