![]() i run my 88 parcar around our camp ground. its pretty quik(for a golf cart). old people in camp ground are complaining about my cartand saying im going to fast. i think the back firing and loudish 2 stroke exhaust are really the problem. im new to carts an dont know where my govenor is or should be, or if its adjustable? any help would be great. thanks matt

![]() You don't have to press the pedal down all the way!! :)
The govenor is basically a cable that limits how far the carburator opens up. If it's anything like my 86 there is a bracket holding the cable attached to the reat axel. |

![]() Glue a block of wood on the floor under the peddle so it can't go down so far.

![]() i did find a bracket with all my cables before the carb that was bent. when i straighten it the cart loses power. so i dont sound like im competing in drifting competition.ive been feathering gas pedal. i might still try to extend exhaust and find a small second muffler.

![]() so jegger did you find anyway to fix or adjust this away. i pulled the bracket with the cables from the pedal forward and it slowed it down. still loud though. i have a muffler with a 2" out let off a car, i might try it if it fits and isnt too ugly.

![]() well I don't have the gov. any more so cant help you out on the speed control. I would look at when the micro closes to send power to the solenoid, mine was closing with the throttle open causing it to start at a higher rpm and not able to go slow. I also think that that was causing the back fireing as I tookk my foot off to slow down I was still drwaing fuel in without spark then when pushed it back ,bang.
My motor blew last week (20years old) so when I pulled the top end off my exaust gasket was trashed (less than a year old). so for me I am going to replace the motor mounte and exaust gasket as well at the top end of the motor as soon as I get the $$$$. If it is still loud I an going to through on a cheep cheery bomb muffler after the stock one to help out on the noise. ![]() |
