18 or 23 HP DECISIONS DECISIONS ???
Yamaha g2 5 inch lift 22" tires. Looking for reliability and power, well of course the cost is a factor as well. All over this forum CPP seems to be the place to go yet I have spoke with Alpha carts and with Performance v Twins. They all have there own opinions so I'm confused
Yes I want to pull some hills and keep up with the Rhinos and if I had the money I would be buying a Razor (yet this cart building is WAY more fun). So 18 or 23 hp stock or pumped-up. I was thinking to go 30 HP but then after reading the posts on here I'm not so sure reliable ? I also will be doing some slow speed as well at the shooting club. Looking to get some help Thanks Ken |

CPP's full tilt 23 puts out more than 23 HP. Ive never heard of them being unreliable. If you want a bolt in deal with plenty of support you can't go wrong with CPP's kit. CPP is the builder, not the reseller.

Go with the 23 loaded up at CPP and have Tom rework your driven clutch.

Go with the 23, best of all worlds. When mildly tweaked will give you all the performance and still be reliable. If down the road you really want to open it up with cams, carbs etc it's the best platform to build on.

Re: 18 or 23 HP DECISIONS DECISIONS ???
I havent heard much talk of working on the driven clutch what can be done for improvements ? Once the new motor is installed is it in the new clutch to allow the motor to idle ? how about to warm it up ? The neutral position on my cart is VERY tempremental and has "jumped" on me several times. i have seen lots of videos of guys reving there "big blocks and the clutch not engageing, whats up with that. AS I ahve said I'm new to building up carts and never worked on a ride with the centrifugal clutch any advice / help would be well received. I have made up my mind and will fo with Tom of CPP for the whole engine upgrade kit.
I dont care for his exhaust any other options ? Thanks, this cart thing is getting addictive !!! I posted pics of my rollcage on lifted carts this morning |

Re: 18 or 23 HP DECISIONS DECISIONS ???
They say the 18 with a rev kit is the fastest, it will rev higher due to smaller stroke iirc. But if you get the 23 you can get more later on, has more torque. You will need a really good suspension to run with the rhinos and such.

Took the 23 hp Briggs Club Car to Bundy Hill http://www.bundyhilloffroad.com to run with the Rhinos. Trust me they will take everything you got. Go with 23 hp Briggs rev kit and cam from CPP! And yes I found that you will need a really good suspension to run with the rhinos.

Yeah a cam will really wake them up, you can clutch higher.
