just got a cart: looking to lift it and troubleshoot charging
hello, first time owner here. just picked up a (i believe) '98 or '99 48v club car from an elderly guy in a country club community. first 2 numbers on serial # are 98. any who, i have a couple questions...
#1. i'm going to purchase a 6" lift kit and want to know if i can run the factory wheels and tires without any issues. looking at the one on jakes site to be specific and will be installing at home. #2. as soon as we got the cart we went out and rode it for a few hours. got home, plugged it in and charger started, i walked away and left it... cart performs well overall but now (a few days later) the charger is not turning on, (its not clicking or anything when i plug it in) i checked the batteries with a multimeter after i found the charge was not coming on and the batts were at 8.19v - 8.26v. i wouldnt think so but, is this too low for the charger to turn on? relay stuck? or golf cart computer problem? i bypassed the charger relay and it does charge, however... i tried putting power to the relay with a 12v battery to see if i could get the relay to click but didnt have any luck since it looks a bit different than an automotive relay where you can usually do that when removed. any advice on how to test the electrical stuff would be awesome! |

It's a 48V relay. 12 volts won't make it do a thing. Check for power in the ends of the two small wires that activate the relay with the cord plugged into the cart. Tell me what you've got.

probed the 2 small wires at their connectors on the relay (red/blu, red/red) cart plugged in to charger, not the wall, everything hooked up regular |
